On Sunday, 21st July we welcomed over 70 people, both retailers and members of the public, to our mill to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. We had cleared a 50 metre length of our warehouse and decorated it with banners, displays of new yarns and garments, and pompoms.  Five of our lovely Blogstars had put up amazing displays of their work and we all circulated and chatted to lots of lovely people. Our party began with a game of Special DK bingo.  Our callers, Lucy from Attic 24 and  the hilarious Emma Varnam, were our celebrity callers and the room was hushed as people furiously dabbed on their bingo cards.  Our newest team member, Angela, had created these amazing bouquets for the winners. guess We had a wall of little jumpers from the Special DK palette arranged in a display but there were 15 colours not included.  Our guests were encouraged to see if they could spot the missing shades to win a mystery prize. The winner was Katie Smith from the Happy Haberdashery who won 20 balls of Special DK – we were really impressed by her colour knowledge. retailer Susanne from Mrs Johnson’s Emporium in Blackpool was wearing a lovely wrap made from Stylecraft yarns from the last 30 years and she challenged us to identify them. After a lovely Prosecco lunch, we all settled down to one of the afternoon’s workshop accompanied by a special birthday cake.  Emma Varnam showed guests how to make a crocheted succulent, Lucy ran a workshop on Mandalas, Helen Shrimpton from Crystals and Crochet guided her table through more complicated crochet stitches, and Jane Crowfoot gave a masterclass on using beads in crochet.  Angela and Juliet from our team also ran workshops on knitted flowers and double knitting. As our memorable day drew to a close our happy guests picked up their goodie bags before we waved them goodbye. What a special day.
