Phil Saul

Dr Phil Saul (aka The Twisted Yarn) is an NHS clinical psychologist and a knitting/crochet writer. Her column appears in Simply Knitting magazine every few months. She lives in a leaky, wonky, old converted brewery in a village with her husband and small twins, but is unable to reveal her exact location due to being on the run from the Knitting Police after an incident in which she is alleged to have said, “Nah, can’t be bothered to gauge-swatch” before knitting a skirt. (Gosh, that was a long sentence. But not as long as the sentence that will be handed down if the Knitting Police catch her.)

She also designs quirky knits and crocheted home wares which can be found on her blog and on Ravelry. Her inspiration is the natural world: there really is no wiser designer than Mother Nature. Frankly, the rest of us may as well give up and go home.

When not knitting/hooking, she likes to go running. Actually that’s a total lie – she hates to go running, but she does it most days anyway and then whinges about it pathetically on her blog. She likes to bake huge chocolate cakes, hill-walk, drink good wine with close friends, grow things that you can eat, light log fires, cook Middle Eastern food, read/write fiction, listen to her children invent stories, and study geology.
