We are very excited to let you know about a gorgeous new CAL from Rosina Plane that we are proud to sponsor. It’s perfect for the run up to the festive season and is called Sonia’s Holiday.

Rosina is well-known for her graphic patterns which work particularly well in the mosaic technique, and she is the founding Admin of the popular Facebook group, Mosaic Crochet World. We think she is one of the most exciting designers in mosaic crochet right now.

She wanted to create a project in memory of her cousin, also called Sonia: “Sonia was my cousin, and my grandmother Rosina’s first-born grandchild.  I have never known anybody more kind and generous than she was. She absolutely loved Christmas but was tragically taken from us by cancer just a few days before Christmas 2022,” said Rosina.

“I hadn’t originally intended to do a Christmas CAL in 2023, but I would really like to try to raise some money for a local cancer charity in Sonia’s memory.” Rosina will be donating £2.00 for each Sonia’s Holiday pattern sold on Ravelry, up to 24th December 2023, to the Big C, one of East Anglia’s largest cancer charities which provides help for those who are affected by cancer through Seven Cancer Support and Information Centres and Hubs across the county.

Sonia’s Holiday is a 6-part CAL, worked using the overlay mosaic crochet technique, and finished off with a pretty envelope border to hide the loose ends.  The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 90 x 120cm). The pattern also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size or adjust the length of the project by repeating your favourite parts.

The introduction will be launched on 12th October and the other parts as follows:
Part 1 - 27th Part 2 – Friday, 3rd November 2023
Part 3 – Friday, 10th November 2023
Part 4 – Friday, 17th November 2023
Part 5 – Friday, 24th November 2023
Part 6 – Friday, 1st December 2023

Supporting videos for the gauge swatch and border will also be provided on Rosina’s YouTube channel.
